Heavy rain this afternoon has paralyzed Tirana. The city's main access roads and arteries have been blocked, creating kilometer-long queues and paralyzing traffic in many areas.
According to reports from the field, the secondary road of the Durrës-Tirana highway is completely blocked, while citizens have been stuck in their cars for more than an hour without moving. Chaos has also been created at the entrance to Tirana from the Lapraka area and throughout the inner city.
A critical situation occurs in:
-Lapraka Street
-The December 21st rotation
-The area near the "Selman Stërmasi" stadium
-Kavaja Road
-Ali Demi's area
-Dibra Road
-Xhanfize Keko and the road to Tufina
Even the Grand Ring Road, although new and theoretically with higher capacity, is facing congestion in some segments, proving that even infrastructure investments have not brought real relief to traffic.
Despite the worsening situation, there is no official communication from the Traffic Police or the institutions responsible for urban traffic management. There is no report of any specific incident that caused this situation; high traffic flow, rainfall and overloaded infrastructure are the main causes.
