Former democratic deputy Gert Bogdani passed away at the age of 44...

The former DP deputy, Gerti Bogdani, has suddenly passed away, after suffering a cardiac arrest.

It is learned that Bogdani suffered a cardiac arrest at the 'Rogner' hotel in Tirana. The democratic deputy passed away at the age of 44.

The deputies of the Democratic Party have abandoned the meeting and have gone urgently to QSUT.

"It has just been confirmed that a former colleague of ours, colleague Gert Bogdani, has just passed away. This news is shocking and very serious for us his colleagues in the DP, in the Assembly of Albania" , said Bardhi while requesting the interruption of the regulation council meeting.

The former DP deputy was married to the well-known activist Edlira Çepani and is the father of Ajra and Reinart. He was also the chairman of the International Union of Young Democrats.

Who was Gert Bogdani?

Born on July 7, 1980 in Tirana, Bodgani, after graduating from "Harry Fultz" high school, with excellent results and a "Gold Medal", continued his higher studies at the Polytechnic University of New York, where he graduated with "Highest Honors". te Larta' (Summa Cum Laude), being also announced as the winner of the Outstanding Graduate Award - 'Gold Medal'.

Then he returned to Albania, starting his professional career in the academic field at the University of New York - Tirana. He is the founder and leader of the Network of Albanian Students in the World.

He started his political career in 2007, he ran with the Democratic Party for Mayor of Municipal Unit no. 10 Tirana, a race which he wins. During this time, he also continued his activity as a political spokesperson of the Democratic Party. In 2009, Gerti Bogdani ran in the Parliamentary Elections of June 28, 2009, and was elected the youngest deputy in the Assembly of Albania.  

After years of active engagement in the leadership structures, in the 2019 elections, he became the most voted member of the Presidency of the Democratic Party, with over 70% of the votes.

In 2022, he competed in the DP primaries to be a candidate for the Tirana race.

Throughout his career in Albania and abroad, Gerti has been a strong and continuous supporter of political & civic initiatives in defense of the values, heritage of Tirana, freedom & democracy in Albania, organizing various initiatives for the youth and the Albanian diaspora .

Gerti Bogdani is known as one of the personalities with the most integrity in Albanian politics, with family values ​​and dedicated to his work, with energy and vision in bringing innovations and finding solutions to the problems of the community he has represented.

Engagement in politics:

In 2005, Bogdani accepted the invitation to engage in politics driven by the inner civic call to contribute to the country. In 2007, he began his duties as Secretary of Foreign Relations of the DP, which he successfully carried out until 2019, significantly expanding the international network in support, not only of the Democratic Party, but especially of Albania - from the Congress and the American Senate , the European Parliament and the German Bundestag, especially in cases of important votes for Albania and Kosovo.

In this task, he successfully managed to support the membership of the DP in the International Democratic Union - IDU, the application of the LDK for membership in the European People's Parties - EPP, as well as contributed to the voting membership of the Democratic Party in the EPP. In 2007, he ran in the Local Elections, being the first candidate from the right to become the mayor of Minimunicipality no. 10 in Tirana and the youngest Mayor ever elected, making the community his own and getting the support of the unit's electorate beyond the left or right political changes.

In 2009, Gerti Bogdani ran in the Parliamentary Elections of June 28, 2009 and was elected the youngest deputy in the Assembly of Albania. During the two parliamentary legislatures 2009 - 2013 and 2013 - 2017, he contributed to legal initiatives with impact on education, social support and young people. During two parliamentary mandates, he served in the European Integration Commission & Media Commission, as well as dedicated himself to the problems of the autochthonous Tirana community. In 2009, Bogdani also assumed the position of FRPD chairman.

After 2 years in the position of Vice-President, in 2014 he was elected President of IYDU - International Democratic Youth Union, in the Assembly in Lisbon & held this office 2014-2016, becoming the first Albanian politician to be elected to such a high position leader in an international organization.
