Pedagogue Blendi Kajsiu commented on the opening of the Parliament session, which lasted only 26 minutes. Kajsiu stated that this session placed the last stone in the 'grave' of the Parliamentary Republic, as according to him, we are now dealing with a 'prime ministerial republic'.
Kajsiu has stated that we have gone from a flawed democracy to a liberal dictatorship of Edi Rama.
"This will go down in the short history of our democracy as a blow to parliamentary life. We have gone from a parliamentary republic to a prime ministerial republic. The opening session of parliament put the final stone on the tomb of the parliamentary republic, which has become a monument to the prime ministerial republic. It is the trend of recent years, where we have gone from a democracy with defects, towards a liberal dictatorship of Rama and we are moving towards an electoral dictatorship because there is no longer a Parliament, we no longer have an executive, but we only have a prime minister," Kajsiu told Report TV.
Asked about the opposition's actions in Thursday's session, the lecturer said that the opposition has devalued the parliament. He further added that the DP only reacts to the troubles of the Democratic Party leader Sali Berisha and does not talk about the problems of Albania.
"These are excuses that the president of the DP and the entire Democratic Party group know. Of course, the elections in Albania are problematic, there is clientelism, interference by organized crime, or interference by the state administration, but it is not true to say today that Rama won the elections by stealing the elections. These factors may have had an impact, but the truth is that even those who are critical of Rama know this.
I think we are heading towards an electoral dictatorship, since we vote for the dictator ourselves. It is not that the dictator is imposed on the people, but he is voted for by the people. Of course, the capture of the media and the economy has an impact, but the problem lies with the opposition, which has devalued the Parliament as an institution where the problems of society are debated. This is the problem of the opposition. Of course, the main culprit for deparliamentarism is the government, but this destruction cannot be done without the cooperation of the opposition, which has turned the Parliament into a megaphone for the troubles of its president Berisha. The debate that takes place in public perception is the opposition using its space for the troubles that Berisha has with SPAK and not for the troubles of Albania , "said Kajsiu.
