In a direct reaction on social media, investigative journalist Artan Hoxha has harshly attacked the system of privileges offered to senior state officials, while law enforcement officers, according to him, are undervalued, unprotected and unpaid in line with the risk they face every day.
" Everyone seeks to be protected by police and police escorts, prosecutors, judges, ministers, those in power... Police for all ," writes Hoxha, placing the two standards being applied after the murder of judge Astrit Kalaja in the courtroom at the center of criticism.
The journalist brings to attention a shocking fact: " The State Police is the only structure of this state that has 422 Martyrs of the Homeland, killed in the line of duty during the 35 years of post-communism ."
While prosecutors, as he points out, have not had anyone killed in the line of duty, and the case of Astrit Kalasa is the first for judges, requests for special security measures, escorts, armed guards and personal protection have been immediately embraced by the judiciary and politics.
Hoxha also compared salaries, emphasizing that a magistrate receives as much as all the police officers in a police station in the smallest areas of the country.

A basic level police officer is paid only 600 euros per month and with this salary, they cannot even protect themselves, let alone be motivated to protect the big salaries of this state…. Even the most lost tallavaja in the capital pays its guards better than the State Police… The state police have the primary duty to protect the lives and property of the people, not the rulers from their people….
