Lawyer Jordan Daci spoke about the decision taken today by the Constitutional Court to suspend the November 9 elections for the Municipality of Tirana. Daci emphasized that this decision was slightly delayed, while emphasizing that there could not have been another decision.
The lawyer also stated that the Constitutional Court's decision regarding Erion Veliaj's appeal could take even longer than October 31. While explaining the process regarding making the decision, Daci stated that long deadlines are needed to reach a majority and then to justify the decision made.
" There could be no other decision, it was delayed a little. This decision should have been made and this decision confirmed the fact that the reasoning that the elections or procedures were not suspended was unconstitutional. This suspension means that the only authority that would judge, practically, could not have made any other decision."
And they cannot be held on the 9th even if Mr. Veliaj's request is not accepted. Today the CEC cannot do anything and cannot even cut the ballots. Let's say that if Veliaj's complaint is accepted, they would be abusing their power and the citizens would have to pay for something that is not done.
