The Western Balkans foreign ministers will gather in Northern Ireland in October. The summit, which takes place within the framework of the Berlin Process, will bring them together to share concepts that promote peace and cooperation.
Western Balkan and European Union countries will gather in Northern Ireland on October 8, a meeting that precedes the Berlin Process Summit, which will be held in London on October 22. The meeting in Northern Ireland will bring together European foreign ministers, and will be chaired by British Foreign Secretary David Lammy .
He will host more than 15 of his counterparts, including the Albanian minister, to lead talks that promote peace, stability and cooperation in the Western Balkans, as well as to strengthen Europe's collective security and combat organized crime and human trafficking gangs.
" Hillsborough Castle is a poignant reminder of the power of diplomacy to transform conflict and division into peace and lasting cooperation. By drawing on the experience of Northern Ireland, we hope to support partners in the Balkans to overcome the challenges of the past through meaningful reconciliation and to help build a secure and prosperous future," the British minister said, Euronews reports.
The UK has intensified engagement with the Western Balkan countries to implement the Plan for Change, including dismantling people smuggling networks as part of the fight against illegal migration.
