Lawyer Kreshnik Spahiu spoke about the meeting that the American diplomatic headquarters in Tirana held with the new lawmakers of the Assembly.
Spahiu said that the US is no longer an ally of this DP, which is led by old leaders led by Sali Berisha.
"The US has been the main allies of the DP and even its financiers. The US is clear and consistent. The US embassy's message to the new MPs was clear. They met with new MPs and not old ones, not with their leaders, they mentioned the DP and the SP, but not Rama and Berisha. The US supports the new political elite and not the old one, while not removing the old leaders of Albanian politics from the blacklist ," the lawyer told "Report TV".
He spoke about speculation by some media outlets, including the names of Berisha and Rama as part of the American message, but that in reality neither of them was mentioned.
"The media speculates on the message they conveyed, the US does not mention the leaders of the two parties nor Berisha or Rama by name. It is no coincidence, there is no coincidence for the US. In no place are the leaders mentioned, but it is said that they met with the new MPs of all parties. They encouraged the new MPs, they did not give aggressive messages. The US message is clear, they support the new MPs. I know how to read the message and I do not know how to speculate, it was that they encourage the new MPs of all parties, it was a fair message and none of the old leaders were mentioned and I do not see any other US message or change in their position", concluded Spahiu.
