It is about the sexual crimes that happen in the deep areas of Albania where the 'fear' and the mentality to denounce a sexual abuse remains very high.

In the report presented by the General Prosecutor's Office on crimes in our country, it is evident that the highest number of proceedings registered for sexual crimes is in the prosecution offices near the court of first instance: Tirana recorded 39% of the total number of proceedings registered for these crimes on a national scale, Durrës registered 12% of the proceedings, Fier and Vlorë respectively with 8% of the registered proceedings.

Meanwhile, it is noted that the smallest number of proceedings registered for this group of criminal offenses is in the prosecutor's offices near the courts of first instance: Elbasan, Kukës, Lezhë, each registered about 2% of the total proceedings registered at the country level for this group of offenses and the Dibër prosecutor's office with 1% of the nationwide proceedings for this group of crimes.

Statistical data shows that in 2023 there is a 23.46% decrease in the number of proceedings registered for sexual crimes compared to 2022 and a 39.08% decrease in proceedings sent to court compared to 2022.

Regarding the defendants for this group of criminal offenses, a decrease in the number of defendants registered against this total in 2022 of 28.13%, a decrease in the number of defendants who were sent to court by 38.95% and reduction of the number of defendants convicted by the court by 18.18% compared to 2022.
