Analyst Mentor Kikia sees yesterday's protest, which brought together a handful of DP militants, as a wake-up call for Sali Berisha. The analyst said that the turnout was extremely low and in such protests, where the target is the government, numbers are important as they show strength.
"I see a bell that needs to be heard well by the DP leadership because if in these conditions when affairs or corruption stories are on the streets, it is assumed that the citizen would be sensitive enough to respond to a political call," said Kikia.
According to him, Berisha does not inspire and his daily rhetoric in his appearances is demotivating. He says that political protests have shown that they produce nothing, unlike the civic ones that brought the government's reaction, citing the protests over chemical waste coming from Syria and that of the students.
"Mr. Berisha has shown himself ambitious with the protest as an element of doing politics. His speeches have been similar for 15 years and every time he organizes a protest we hear him saying that this is the end of the government. Even last night he was of the opinion that this is the beginning of the protest season and the end of Rama. This kind of narrative has been consumed. They can create a belief in the citizens that this time the protests against the government are enough for it to withdraw. There have been two protests, the citizens' protest about the chemical waste that would come from Syria. The government at that time rejected the voice of the citizens and when this voice became an avalanche, the government was forced to say no to the USA. And the student protest. When it saw that the protest turned into an avalanche again, the government sat down for talks. Force is necessary, the necessary number. We do not see this in political protests.
Citizens are rarely motivated to take to the streets, they are tired of politics. I believe that it is a point where everyone should think coldly for the good of the DP and democracy. Berisha is heard in every public appearance saying that Rama cannot win elections because he steals and controls everything. This creates the perception among the public that Rama can no longer win, he is in absolute power and when Berisha says it with his own mouth, imagine what citizens can expect. This is a kind of public demotivation that is done to opposition voices. The task of leadership is to motivate and not demotivate them. Oppositionism and the DP that on May 11 was confirmed, whether we like it or not, as the most important opposition force, even though drastically shrunk, should produce inspiration. Saying that Rama does 1,000 things wrong but we will still defeat him. Mr. Berisha's speeches are demotivating. "There is a contradiction and citizens are not coming out. In the local elections on the 9th, there was a total abandonment even of independent candidates who were supported by the opposition ," Kikia told "Report TV".
