"The DP protest has nothing to do with civil disobedience", Kikia:

Analyst Mentor Kikia spoke about the protest announced today by Berisha to be held on February 8. Kikia states that the DP's action is not civil disobedience, as there are only occasional protests.

"The PD protests have nothing to do with what is called civil disobedience. Disobedience is a continuous process and is not a political action that is undertaken from time to time. However, the PD has named it disobedience, but it is a means of protest that is called from time to time by the PD. It has called the next protest beyond Berisha's designations as the largest in Albania. If it is really big, it will be watched. It will be big if there is mass participation. Civil disobedience is the disobedience that you do to your state," he told "Report TV".

The analyst spoke about the primaries, saying that political parties like the DP lack a culture of democracy, as it is the leader who dictates.

"Maintaining an electoral process within the party is very important for a party. If primary elections were held for candidates for deputies, it would be an important political development. Such a process would give it breathing space and would introduce competition and create more independent people. Primaries do not have the standard of that electoral process that produces competition and meritocracy. Such forms have been attempted before. They have not worked. The culture of democracy is missing, the tradition of this process is missing. It is the mechanisms of leadership that dictate who will be included in the lists. There is little time," said Kikia.

He also commented on the confusion of the DP leaders regarding the upcoming primaries.

"Anyone who had been with the idea that they would be safe on the lists, wants to withdraw and submit to the vote, creating chaos. Some of the party leaders were against holding these elections. But Berisha had promised and in every public appearance he was faced with the question of whether he would hold the primaries. Under this pressure, he decided to hold this process," Kikia continued.

The analyst added that the opposition should have a defined team if it wants to govern the country so that voters can recognize it.

"The opposition should also determine a part of the government team so that it is known who they will vote for. In addition to accusations about the government and corruption, there should be an alternative on how to properly solve these problems. There should be a way to respond to this evil. In the absence of these democratic elements, campaigns turn into political slander, where everyone curses everyone. They want to influence the citizen without getting to the essence, the real confrontation between two political projects that citizens should choose", he concluded.
