The state police has announced the measures that will be taken the next day after the protest that will be held by the opposition and the Alliance for the Protection of the Theater in front of the municipality of Tirana at 10:00.
According to the police, there will be a temporary traffic jam on the main boulevard near Tirana City Hall.
The police also call on the organizers, leaders and participants in the gatherings to respect the law and distance themselves from any act of violence.
"The State Police informs that it has taken organizational and operational measures to guarantee public order and security during the development of a rally requested by the Alliance for the Protection of the Theater, on Friday, April 26, 2024, at 10:00 a.m., near Municipality of Tirana.
In implementation of the plan of measures, the State Police announces that, the next day, at 09:45 a.m. and the following, there will be a temporary blockage of the circulation of vehicles, on the main boulevard near the Municipality of Tirana. For this reason, we suggest that alternative routes be used until the end of the rally, such as the Middle Ring and the Great Ring.
During the last two rallies, held by the Alliance for the Protection of the Theater, in the square in front of the Tirana City Hall, cases of opposition to the police forces, the use and throwing of Molotov cocktails and other objects in the direction of the Tirana City Hall, seriously endangering life and health of police officers.
The Tirana Local Police Directorate fully respects the right of citizens to organize and participate in peaceful gatherings. The police call on the organizers, leaders and participants in the gatherings to respect the law and distance themselves from any act of violence.
Violating the order of public safety and endangering the health and life of police officers constitute a violation of the law and the State Police will always act professionally ," the police announcement states.
