Member of the "Bashkë" Movement, Mirela Ruko clashed with Anuela Ristani, as she accused the municipality leaders of avoiding the debate on the protest. After the meeting was interrupted and several warnings were given, Ruko was expelled from the hall.
The massive protests, which have been taking place on "Dëshmorët e Kombit" boulevard for three weeks, have also become the subject of debate at the Tirana Municipal Council meeting.
Opposition representatives demanded that the issue be included on the agenda. Member of the "Bashke" Movement, Mirela Ruko, asked the acting mayor, Anuela Ristani, to discuss the protesters' concerns and criticized the way in which, according to her, the city is being administered.
During her speech, Ruko accused the municipal leaders of avoiding debate on an issue that affects citizens, while also having retorts with other council members.
"I would like protests to be part of today's agenda, to discuss what their concerns are... it has to do with you people who I don't know if you live in this city, which has turned into a dollhouse of architects who have completely destroyed our way of life. If you don't know why people are protesting, let me inform you. Why are you afraid to discuss issues that concern the residents of Tirana. Mr. Muharremi, when important issues are discussed, you go to the toilet... ", she said.
The clash led to the interruption of the meeting for several minutes. After several warnings from the chairperson to respect the order of business, Mirela Ruko was expelled from the hall.
After her departure, the Municipal Council meeting continued normally with the review of the agenda, and in the end, all the anticipated draft decisions were approved.
