The hearing on security measures in the GJKKO Appeal against Mayor Erion Veliaj and 4 businessmen Elman Abule, Shkëlqim Fusha, Gentian Sula and Meriman Palushi lasted about 7 hours.
The hearing was postponed until Wednesday afternoon after the presentation of new evidence by special prosecutors Ols Dado and Altin Dumani. Under these conditions, Judge Engert Pëllumbi decided to give the lawyers the necessary time to familiarize themselves with this evidence and present their objections.
Lawyer Edmond Petraj, on "Studio Live" on Report TV, considered the methodology that SPAK is following towards the mayor of Tirana unusual.
Petraj emphasized that the file that is reviewed in the Appeal for the relief of the measure must be the one presented in the First Instance of the GJKKO.
"Erion Veliaj should focus on the file and those letters for which he has claims and the relationship for which his lawyers are responsible because they have undertaken to follow the file procedurally step by step for his defense.
The First Instance file, it goes to the Appeal. I have not seen other cases like this. It seems strange to me. How is it possible then that the First Instance decision was with a stricter security measure when there was no strong convincing evidence and now SPAK has submitted some evidence to convince the Court", said Petraj.
