Referring to reports from the Criminal Court of Kosovo, Erion Veliaj's two lawyers, Ermir Beta and Artur Selmani, have requested a more lenient measure.
The GJKKO appeal has postponed the hearing against the Mayor of Tirana, Erion Veliaj, until tomorrow, while the decision came after more than 7 hours, during which the parties presented their claims.
It was Judge Engert Pëllumbi who decided to postpone the hearing, which will resume on March 12 at 12:30, after SPAK Prosecutors presented new evidence. Under these circumstances, the judge considered giving the lawyers time to present their claims.
In the Appeal of the GJKKO, the session began at 10:00, while its subject was the security measures against the Mayor, Erion Veliaj, and 4 businessmen Elman Abule, Shkëlqim Fusha, Gentian Sula and Meriman Palushi.
Referring to reports from the GJKKO, Erion Veliaj's two lawyers, Ermir Beta and Artur Selmani, have requested a more lenient security measure compared to the property guarantee, arguing that there is no risk of spoiling the evidence. It is learned that Veliaj did not speak during the hearing, while everything was presented by his lawyers.
Romina Zano, Abule's lawyer, has also requested a more lenient measure regarding the property guarantee.
Also, businessmen Shkëlqim Fusha, Gentian Sula and Meriman Palushi, have requested through their legal defense attorneys that the security measures be lifted. All three are under compulsory appearance, accused of corruption, while their lawyers have requested the measure be lifted, arguing that it is not at the level of the legal standard, emphasizing the lack of evidence.
Meanwhile, the two SPAK prosecutors, Ols Dado and Altin Dumani, have requested that the security measures be left in force. Ajola Xoxa, Sokol Kryeziu and Fatmir Bektashi did not appeal the security measure in the GJKKO Appeal.
Mayor Veliaj has been held in custody since February 10 and is accused of the criminal offenses of "Passive Corruption" and "Money Laundering", committed in collaboration with his wife Ajola Xoxa, who is being investigated under a mandatory reporting measure, also for failure to declare assets.
