Analyst Ben Andoni has commented on the latest political developments in the country, with a special focus on the unusual situation in the Municipality of Tirana after the suspension of the elections. According to Andoni, the suspension of the electoral process does not harm the Socialists, in fact, according to him, the created situation suits them.
"I believe that the Municipality of Tirana will remain in a stalemate, the Socialists are fine even with the stagnation of the election process," the analyst said.
He cast doubt that early elections will be held in the capital, noting that the legal and political situation involving former mayor Erion Veliaj will be further aggravated with the initiation of legal proceedings against him.
" Now that Veliaj begins his trial ordeal, I believe he will have a very difficult time, " Andoni added.
Speaking about justice in the country, Andoni was highly critical of the reforms undertaken during these decades, considering them as failures. Regarding the independent candidacy of Florjan Binaj, supported by the opposition, Andoni stated that the DP was aware of the possible suspension of the process and therefore chose a figure outside politics.
"I believe that the DP knew this would happen and therefore supported the self-proposed candidate and did not put forward a political candidate of its own ," he added.
However, he praised the courage of young figures who take on such challenges, but added that Tirana, due to its complexity, is not a place for experiments.
"Any new face that takes on such commitments is to be supported, but the capital has such problems that it cannot be experimented with a figure who does not know the city. Even Veliaj did not know the city well ," Andoni emphasized.
In conclusion, Andoni emphasized that Tirana has personalities with integrity and public respect, but the problem lies in the lack of support for them.
" Tirana has personalities, individuals who enjoy the respect of others, but do not support them ," he concluded.
