Debate on justice issues cannot be considered a luxury, but a direct need related to respect for the law and citizens' rights. This is what analyst Preç Zogaj said, emphasizing the importance of openly addressing these topics.
According to him, the fact that these issues are being discussed publicly for the first time indicates a new, albeit delayed, development to address past violations and establish clearer standards in the justice system.
In this context, he considers it normal for high-ranking officials and former officials to appear in court, who are defended by trained lawyers, seeing this as an indicator of the functioning of the system.
"I think it is not a luxurious discussion even though it is being held for the first time and it is a discussion that is within the law and we must say that the rights of our predecessors have been violated, not these ones. It has to start somewhere and it is the reason that justice and in the courtrooms now appear high-ranking officials and former officials who have more motivated and stronger lawyers and this is a normal thing. This is a very specific topic, of confrontation, of accusations, judges waiting, defendants. It is not easy to discuss in the studio without risking entering the professions of others", said Zogaj.
He stressed that the public's interest remains in the truth: whether there was a violation of the law or abuse of office. According to him, for this reason, the process should take place where the parties face each other directly in court.
"The public is interested in learning whether they have violated the law or not, whether they have abused their office or not. How do the prosecution's accusations stand in relation to the law and the public is eagerly awaiting this battle to take place where the parties face each other ," he told "RTSH".
Zogaj emphasized that the focus should remain on the core of the case, which are the accusations, and not on secondary elements that do not serve the process.
"If there is no reason why they are keeping them, if there is no reason for Beqaj, who is being removed, they should be removed for everyone because the essence is the accusations, the rest are garnishes. Someone wants garnishes to impress and it is not worth it for us," the analyst said.
