
The project aims to increase road and public safety through Artificial Intelligence and the installation of road cameras, radars, body cameras for police officers, and noise sensors.
This was stated by the Deputy Minister of Interior, Besfort Lamallari, during the presentation to the Foreign Policy Committee of the draft law for "ratification of the loan agreement between the Council of Ministers of the Republic of Albania and the Abu Dhabi Fund for Development, for the financing of the project "Camera system under the administration of the State Police - Smart City".
"This loan contract in terms of technical terminology and the negotiation part is covered by the Ministry of Finance, but since the Ministry of Interior is the final beneficiary through the State Police, which will provide all this support, which amounts to 118.5 million dollars, of which thanks to the negotiations made, a grant of 20 million dollars has been secured as part of this loan. This project is of vital importance for the country, increasing not only road safety parameters, but we also have an expanded concept of public safety, going to the extension of security elements and the use of artificial intelligence through the installation of radars, noise sensors, body cameras, both on national road axes, but also in environments with high public importance and exposure, including schools ," said Lamallari.
According to the Deputy Minister of Interior, this is good news for teaching staff, the parent community, students and pupils who will benefit from the addition of cameras and intelligent information that is collected thanks to Smart City, and will be used for the first time in our country.
" The project will include a 12-month implementation phase, part of the agreement was also an operation and maintenance phase for a 48-month period. This draft law is of great importance for our country, not only for road safety, but also for public safety ," Lamallari emphasized.
