Former Minister of Finance, Arben Malaj, stated that Prime Minister Edi Rama attempted to create a new political party in 2013, but after failure, he chose to use the Socialist Party for his personal ambitions.

Malaj stated that "Mjafti's" poor performance in the 2013 elections, with only 0.6% of the vote, showed that Rama missed the opportunity to build a new political entity.

According to Malaj, after this failure, Rama "took the SP license plate" and used the party as a tool to realize his personal political interests and projects.

He emphasized that this approach has directly influenced the way the leadership and management structure of the Socialist Party was built after 2013.

Malaj criticized the individual selection of political figures, arguing that many of them were promoted without going through a real public trust process and then ended up excluded from active politics.

"This has been a painful way of leading, not only for the socialists, but for all of Albania, " he said on the "Off the Record" show on A2CNN.
