National security analyst and expert, Ilir Kulla, was invited to the latest episode of the podcast "Të Pashoj", where he commented critically on the latest developments in Albanian politics and relations with the United States.
Kulla pointed out the silence of the US embassy after the recent developments with the Peace Council and the high-profile visits, calling it a clear signal to the Albanian government and Prime Minister Edi Rama. “Did you read any statement from the US embassy after the approval of the Peace Council? No. This means either that they do not support it, or that they do not care, or that they are speaking through silence,” he declared during the conversation with journalist Edjona Dervishi.
In the same interview, Kulla also commented on Ivanka Trump's visit to Albania, trying to alleviate speculation about any political influence she had in favor of Rama.
Edjona Dervishi: You have often said it, or rather, you have implied a not very comfortable climate for Prime Minister Rama in relation to the Americans and their plan perhaps for Albania.
Ilir Kulla: Then I'll ask you a question.
Edjona Dervishi: Yes.
Ilir Kulla: Are you going to tell me yes or no?
Edjona Dervishi: Okay.
Ilir Kulla: Did you read any statement from the American embassy...
Edjona Dervishi: No, none.
Ilir Kulla: ...after it was approved by the Peace Council? How do you explain it then?
Edjona Dervishi: Okay, I... because I'm not here to do this job, so I couldn't get this information.
Ilir Kulla: No. So, since there was total silence, it means that: either the embassy spoke with total silence, or the embassy did not approve through total silence, or the embassy was not interested in this matter at all. The embassy is not represented by those diplomats who are there. I remember those who attacked Donald Lu and Yuri Kim and thought they had it personally. Remember what the opposition said at the time? “These corrupt people” and others and others. The embassy functions in such a way, so the chain of command comes.
