The Chairperson of the High Prosecutorial Council, Mirela Bog, during a report to the Assembly, stated that the system lacks 123 prosecutors, thus emphasizing the gap that is still felt in the operation of the prosecution body.
She said that out of the 341 prosecutors envisaged in the system, there are currently 218 of them.
"We have currently completed the 46th ethical and professional audit."
For the year 2024, the number of prosecutors is 218, out of 341 foreseen in the system. We have 284 prosecutors, 57 permanent vacancies and 39 temporary vacancies. 57 permanent vacancies are expected to be closed within 2 and a half years.
"The year 2024 has shown that every decision-making of the KLP is not an administrative matter but a message for the system. The report is not just a summary, but a great overview and competencies," Bogdani said, among other things.
Responding to questions raised by the position, Bogdani said that it was the right stance for the right time.
"In the current conditions of the system, in view of the decision map, the main issues are established, which are access.
"A higher efficiency of those prosecutor's offices or courts that were left with 1 or 2 court prosecutors. To create balance, to create functionality and to increase the standard of drafting is a retrial test," said Bogdan.
One of the questions was related to the issue of registration at the Magistrates' School, for which Bogdani said that the KLP itself does not have a target for monitoring, but indicated that an investigation has been launched by the school itself on the issue in question.
"The problems that occurred last year with the competition and admission of new magistracies to magistracy schools.
"The KLP has no review or monitoring authority over the activities of the Magistrate's School," she said.
Another question was about the draft of the new Criminal Code, for which Bogdani said there was no time to look at the details, much less to give a structured answer.
The Chairperson of the KLP, who has exceeded his duties assigned by the EU, is a designated group to keep their minds on the provisions in the established code.
"This is voluminous, somewhere around 900 is related. This issue has been discussed by the council.
