The unstable weather that has affected the Elbasan region during the midday hours has caused problems on several road axes and rural areas, while authorities are monitoring the situation on the ground.
Rainfall, accompanied by strong winds and in some areas with torrential downpours, has appeared with varying intensity throughout the region. Despite the weather conditions, the main national axes continue to be passable and there are no reports of complete traffic blockages.
The most noticeable problem was recorded on the curves of Dragostunja, where around 14:00 there were landslides and alluvial flows on the road. For several minutes, the movement of vehicles was difficult and at a slow pace, while drivers were advised to be careful when passing through the segment.
Traffic Police officers and maintenance company employees are in the area, working to remove materials from the road and fully normalize traffic.
Another problematic situation has been recorded in the Karina Administrative Unit of the Peqin Municipality. In the village of Sinaballaj, a metal "Bailey" bridge has collapsed, cutting off road connections to several surrounding areas.
No injuries or damage to vehicles have been reported from the bridge collapse. Preliminary suspicions are related to the passage of heavy vehicles at night, which may have contributed to the damage to the structure.
As a result of the bridge collapse, traffic has been disrupted in 9 villages of Peqin, as well as in several areas of the Rrogozhina municipality. Residents of the area are facing difficulties in moving, while local authorities have begun intervention to create a temporary crossing near the damaged bridge.
According to local sources, work is focusing on restoring access for residents and vehicles as quickly as possible, while the situation remains under observation due to unstable weather.
