Foreign media have echoed the visit of the American Secretary of State, Antony Blinken, to Tirana.
"ABC News" writes that the visit aims to reaffirm the relations of the United States with the key ally of the Balkans, which supports Ukraine in the confrontation with Russia.
Citing American officials, the news network has underlined that the visit focuses on the future of the Western Balkans, with Albania and its neighbors aiming to join the European Union.
"The United States has appreciated the Albanian leadership in the war-torn region, as well as its role in the Security Council, as a non-permanent member country", writes "ABC", according to which the recent tensions between Kosovo and Serbia may also be treated during the visit.
Even the "US News" agency has written that Antony Blinken's visit to Albania aims to reaffirm relations between the small Balkan country, at the same time a key ally of Washington in the region.
While in Europe, the "Anadolu" agency has reported that during the visit to Tirana, which will follow the one in Germany, Blinken can talk about support for Ukraine and efforts for peace in the Middle East.
Meanwhile, "Politiko" has written that it is a rare visit of a Secretary of State to a small country, since the restoration of diplomatic relations in 1991.
The digital newspaper quoted the spokesperson of the State Department, Matthew Miller, as saying that: "Albania is a vital partner for the stability of the Western Balkans, which also supports the territorial integrity of Ukraine."
According to the source from the State Department, the visit will focus on the future of Albania and the entire region. Former ambassador Yuri Kim, who currently holds the post of deputy assistant secretary of state for Europe and Euro-Asia, has described the visit as a celebration of the partnership between the two countries.
