Analyst Artur Zheji has spoken about the visit of the American Secretary of State, Antony Blinken, to Tirana.
Zheji said the visit has a special meaning for Albanians as it confirms the borders of Albania and Kosovo, but also the rights of Albanians in MV and Montenegro.
He states that the pro-American orientation is not servility towards this powerful state, but is an orientation towards the partner that supports the interests of the Albanians. According to Zhej, whoever distances himself from the US damages the very imperative of his own political force.
"As a small country but we feel big and threatened geopolitically, we are not very good in the Balkans, the presence of Blinken is the presence of the USA which is the guarantee of geopolitical stability not only in our region, therefore for us it is special and it takes on more prominent dimensions unlike large countries where such visits are not very noticeable. For us, it has a different meaning, which confirms the borders of Albania, Kosovo, the rights of Albanians in North Macedonia, Montenegro and wherever they are. This means that the orientation of the Albanian political elites has been correct and receives the right response and makes us feel equal, and sometimes spoiled in the region.
But it makes us feel good. I think that with the categorical political imperative of an Albanian political force, Albania has suffered. There have always been wrong allies. We have had those who chose the east, in communism we chose the Soviet Union. We are western people. Having said that, I think that in a political program of any political force, the pro-American orientation is an orientation not of servility towards the biggest state but towards that partner that solves the equations of the interests of Albania and Albanians. Whoever distances himself in this correlation with the USA, he makes a selfish decision and damages the imperative of his own political force ", said Zheji for "Abc News".
