Nikoll Marku, former director of the Copper Plant in Rubik and chemist in the plant's laboratory, showed in the Shqip show by Rudina Xhunga on DritareTv how much gold was extracted in Rubik from 1969 to 1990 when the plant was closed. Mr. Marku said that since 1935 this factory produced copper, while after 1964 it started to produce gold, first in small quantities and then in larger quantities. While showing that the gold extracted in Rubik was standardized and with 99.95% gold, the specialist says that they sent tons of gold and silver to Switzerland. Although tons of gold and silver were produced in Rubik before 1990, since 1990 it has not been mined anymore, and in 2002 this plant was closed.
