After cyber attacks and threats from Iran, the US increases vigilance in Albania; Anti-terror is "armored".
The United States of America has strengthened measures against terrorism and cyber attacks in our country.
Albania faced a large-scale cyber attack from Iran a year ago, while terrorist acts have also been prevented. Our government even closed the Iranian embassy.
Since these events, the USA has brought its best experts and thrown a lot of money to help SPAK and the police in the anti-terror fight. Today, the US embassy announced that nearly 10 million dollars were given for equipment and training.
This week , the Anti-Terrorist Assistance (ATA) program and the US Embassy in Tirana completed a series of meetings and monitoring sessions with Albanian law enforcement. Over the past seven years, the embassy, through ATA, has provided approximately $10 million in training and equipment to our State Police partners.
We are proud to witness the dedication of our partners in the State Police, reflecting the cooperation over the years to increase security in Albania. These sessions, which included discussions with State Police leaders and focused meetings with over 20 counter-terrorism officers, as well as 15 others from SPAK digital forensics and the State Police shared valuable insights into ATA's contributions. We gained insight into the value of the trainings, their operational importance and their integration into the police curriculum. The success stories highlighted significant improvements in counterterrorism and cyber defense capabilities ," the US embassy announced.
Unlike many countries, fortunately there have been no terrorist acts in Albania. SPAK has investigated and the courts have subsequently convicted several people for supporting terrorism. Meanwhile, the only country that has declared us an enemy is Iran, this is because of the refuge of the Mujahideen. But even after they were sheltered, incidents were avoided.
