Criminalistics expert Ervin Karamuco has shown the ways in which foreign secret services operate in our country.
On the "Now" show on Euronews Albania, Karamuço stated that secret services or agencies are friends and enemies, while highlighting the American secret service CIA, which unlike other agencies has its own station in our country.
"Our secret service has two branches; the national and international, that is, intelligence and counterintelligence. In the national branch, the internal scope and functions of the institution we have are related to violent extremism, terrorism, trafficking, organized crime, which are pursued within the country and have to do with the prevention of acts related to foreigners but also domestically. At the international level as a service we are still active in the region but also beyond.
We had a very active network in Great Britain, mainly for organized crime linked to cells that carried out illegal trafficking.
We are active in some of these countries on specific issues where our assistance is requested due to the illegality of criminal groups.
Here we have intelligence services, near every embassy. Some of them, like the CIA, have their own station, there are more than two agents and associates, some lines that are coordinated by the station chief. Here we had a woman, now there is a man, but they provide extraordinary assistance to the Albanian state since '91", he said.
