The cases of people affected by flu and seasonal viruses have increased significantly in recent weeks.
According to the reports made by health care units throughout the country, about 13 thousand people have presented themselves to the family doctor as a result of infections.
The largest number of those who seek medical help are children up to 5 years old, while this has also led to the overload of pediatric emergencies in the last days of the year that we have just left behind.
Upper respiratory infections are the ones that predominate in the population. Although the infections are widespread throughout the country, it is noted that Gjirokastra, Durrësi, Delvina and Vlora have a greater spread of the disease.
Epidemiologists consider it a normal activity, while it is expected that in the following weeks, the number of infected will increase.
Currently, the number of people infected with flu and seasonal viruses is significantly higher compared to a year ago. According to doctors, vaccination is the best form of protection against severe forms and fatalities.
Currently, over 205,000 people, most of them over 65 years of age, have applied for the flu vaccine offered free of charge at health centers across the country.
