Alejandro Greco, the Arbëresh Orthodox cleric in Argentina, passes away.
He is considered one of the personalities who has most zealously promoted the Arbëresh and Albanian identity in South America.
Greco has been an important voice for the Arbëresh in Argentina, working with dedication to preserving Albanian identity and traditions.
In interviews given to the media, he emphasized the strong connection of the Arbëresh community with its Albanian roots.
Greco had spoken passionately about the role of the Arbëresh in preserving the Albanian language and culture, despite the distance.
He was also noted for his commitment to strengthening relations between the Arbëresh and Albanian communities in Latin America.
To honor his memory, a tribute will be held at the “Vicente Scilingo” hospice (Forest 906), in Buenos Aires, Argentina, on April 21, from 9:00 to 11:00 (local time).
Afterwards, the burial ceremony will take place at the Chacarita cemetery.
Father Greco was not only a spiritual leader, but also a passionate supporter of strengthening the cultural identity of Albanians in the diaspora.
The Arbëresh community, Albanians in the diaspora, and all those who knew and appreciated him will always remember Father Alejandro Greco for his unparalleled devotion and dedication to Albanians and his religious mission.
