The Ministry of Defense has updated the balance regarding the fire situation in the territory of Albania.
A total of 21 fires have been reported over the last 24 hours, of which 9 remain active and 1 is under monitoring.
The outbreaks have been identified in the municipalities of: Dibër, Mat, Bulqizë, Mallakastër, Vlorë, Elbasan, Belsh, Kurbin, Devoll, Korçë, Maliq, Përmet, Shijak and Malësi e Madhe.
The following fires are currently active:
• Dibër Region: In the “Flower Lake”, Lura National Park. The fire is developing in three low-intensity fires during the night. The fires are active over the village of Gurë Lura, around the Black Lake and in Fuşa e Melave. 1 Canadair aircraft from the Italian state operated to help extinguish the fire. Today, operational forces and 30 military forces of the Armed Forces have been engaged to extinguish the fire.
• The fire continues to be active in the village of Ulëz, Mat municipality
• In the village of Zall Gjoçaj, Mat municipality, work has continued to extinguish the fire that broke out in the area called “Përroi i Zi”, a forest area with pine and alder trees. The rocky terrain is very rugged, making it difficult to intervene with firefighting equipment.
• Vlora Region, In Sotiran, in the place called “Qafa e Shëngjergjit”, above the village of Dukat, Orikum administrative unit, Vlora municipality, work has continued. The fire is very intense. Bushes and ferns are burning under the pine forest. The flames, helped by the wind yesterday, also included the pine crown, making the situation problematic. 2 Canadair aircraft from the Greek state have operated to help extinguish the fire. Today, the operation continues with operational forces, assisted by 30 military forces and 1 helicopter of the Armed Forces.
• Elbasan County has continued work to extinguish the fire that broke out in the chestnut forest in the village of Shmil, Labinot-Mal administrative unit.
• Lezha region, in a forest area with pine and oak trees, near the Shkopet tunnel, on the Shkopet-Burrel road. Aerial intervention has prevented the fire from spreading to homes. The terrain is difficult for intervention with vehicles. Today, work continues to cut down the fire, on the heights above the village of Lurth. There is no danger to homes.
• Korça Region. Firefighting efforts have continued in the village of Vernik, Devoll municipality. The fire has been brought under control. Operational forces have been deployed today to completely extinguish the fire.
• In the village of Dishnicë, Bulgarec administrative unit, Korçë municipality. Today, operational forces have been engaged to completely extinguish the fire.
• Gjirokastër district, in the village of Kosinë, Përmet municipality. Most of the forces are concentrated in the village of Kutal, to extinguish the fire, as it is still active. There is no danger to homes.
Under monitoring
• The fire has spread to the village of Strikçan, Zerqan administrative unit, Bulqiza municipality and is being monitored by the local Fire Department Service of Bulqiza municipality with 1 fire truck and 9 firefighters.
The fires are mainly concentrated in areas with bushes and vegetation, with a total of over 32 hectares burned.
Forces engaged: 51 firefighting vehicles and 684 operational forces were engaged in the fire extinguishing operations. Also, 185 forces from the Armed Forces with 19 vehicles and 2 Helicopters participated in yesterday's operations.
Weather conditions and fire risk. According to IGJEUM, no precipitation is expected today.
Forest fires: Today, a "HIGH" risk level is expected in all regions, while a "MODELAR" risk level is expected in Durrës region, and a "HIGH" risk in localized areas of Durrës region (South East).
The risk is expected to be higher tomorrow.
Civil protection structures continue to be continuously engaged in managing and extinguishing fires throughout the territory. We call on citizens to exercise increased caution and immediately report any suspicious fire to the relevant authorities.
