The opposition candidate for the May 11 elections in Durrës, Aulon Kalaja, went to SPAK today, as he filed a lawsuit regarding his claim that there was an electoral crime on May 11.
He claims that his votes were misappropriated and attributed to another candidate.
The DP candidate, Aulon Kalaja, after filing the charges also spoke to the media, stating that he will not give up in his legal battle and for voting justice.
"I was here to file two criminal charges. Seizure of the ballot boxes and recount by SPAK and I will continue the battle for legitimization in the Constitutional Court. These are not human errors, human errors are when they move by 2 votes and not by 42 votes. The tellers have collaborated with the person who counted the votes, there have been cases, votes have been taken away from me and given to someone else, there are obvious movements. That is why I have requested the seizure of the ballot boxes by SPAK and a recount, verification also with film footage, I also have them marked with boxes here to make available to SPAK. There are cases when they were taken by the SP, but also from within the coalition. Votes that were taken away from me or other candidates. I will not leave this battle, I will not give up. I do not even know how many votes I have, KAS says differently, CEC says differently, other ones appear in the footage. I will continue the battle in the Constitutional Court as well," said Kalaja.
Kalaja also explained the process for the first complaint against the Government for forgiving fines before the elections, which he considers a legal violation. SPAK has responded that there is no criminal fact, not initiating an investigation, but he said that he will pursue it further in second instance.
"SPAK has responded to me and according to the prosecution, there is no criminal fact for the forgiveness of fines, but the prosecutor is Altin Dumani and not Ilirjan Celibashi, who is the chairman of the CEC. The prosecution says that we have asked the CEC and Celibashi and he said that there is no legal violation for the forgiveness of fines. I think that state resources were used before the elections intentionally to get votes. Celibashi himself said in a statement that state resources were being used. But I will continue further, I will take it to the Appeals Court if they are not convinced. The forgiveness of fines must be punished," he said.
Kalaja claims that if all the ballot boxes in Durrës are recounted, with the trend of vote-rigging by former prosecutor dismissed by Vetting, Arjan Ndoja, the result could be overturned. He has currently narrowed the difference to around 900 votes.
