The situation in Fier

Currently, there is low-intensity rainfall in the Fier region. Up to now, there are no reports of problematic situations on the ground.

Roads are normally accessible. Electricity and drinking water supply are normal.

The levels of the Seman and Shkumbin rivers are at normal levels. The flow level of the Vjosa river has reached 7.1 m at the Mifoli Bridge (Fier branch),

In the villages of Kashisht, Kafaraj and Cerven, about 150 ha of agricultural land are under water, within the embankments.

Referring to field monitoring, an immediate increase in flow levels and spread to agricultural lands is observed.

As a result of the flows of the Vjosa River, there is also water present at the Kafaraj Pumping Station, Adm. Frrakull Unit, from where the water supply to the city of Fier is also provided.

As a precautionary measure, some of the pumps in the wells near the Vjosa River have been shut down and work is being done with reduced capacity through several other wells located somewhat further away. This measure taken by UKF has not affected the city's water supply, so far.

Residents of the villages of Cerven, Ferras and Kashisht have been notified of any possible evacuation.

The situation is expected to remain critical for the coming hours, while it is being monitored on the ground by the Prefect's Institution and the Fier Municipality Structures.

The Civil Emergencies of the Fier Municipality, together with Mayor Armando Subashi, are monitoring the situation on the ground. They are concentrated along the Çerven embankment, where two dredgers and heavy-duty vehicles are working to repair several segments endangered by the overflow of the Vjosa River.
