Journalist Julian Kasapi spoke about the installation of DPI packages in internet and mobile companies, commenting on their risk.
According to Kasap, that device is used in countries with truncated democracies, such as China, Iran and others.
" Currently, something like this is illegal. Because such devices should have a legal framework, but in Albania there is no legal framework. This is one of the functions of these devices and we have several services that enable the internet and this package is installed, which is DPI, and the one who stands in the middle is the Albanian state. I think it is a request from the Albanian state with the only motive to shut down TikTok. The Albanian state goes to these devices, which are used by Iran and China. These countries use them so that they don't allow them to be used, so that they don't search Google ," said Kasapi.
On the other hand, Kasapi has brought to attention the news that, according to him, occurs repeatedly, recalling the release of personal data in 2021. According to him, every time there is an election, 'personal data is released', linking it to the potential risk posed by the DPI device.
" Apparently there is a political level, but also a legal level. Every time we have elections, our personal data comes out. The Commissioner for Personal Data Protection does not function. If until yesterday authorities like AKSHI that provide internet service, this device will see which site you have this internet consumption on, but also what you do. Do you remember when the MC Catcher device was introduced, because this device had a legal framework and was eavesdropping on several people in prison. Now as for the method of eavesdropping, it is regulated by law. There needs to be a reaction from non-Albanian organizations in Albania, from those people who do something about this issue. That before you get the device you need to regulate the legal framework ," Kasapi said on "Report TV".
