Italy has donated the famous ship "Libra" to the Albanian Naval Forces, which was used to bring migrants to Gjadra.
But it seems that this has a 'trap' behind it. A little while ago, an agreement was signed between "Fincante", the shipbuilding company based in Italy, and "KAYO", the state-owned security company, which will include shipbuilding. This company will have its branch at the Pashaliman base. This was confirmed by Minister Pirro Vengu.
" The memorandum that was signed today, between this shipyard and "KAYO", is an important step for the revival of Pashaliman. The cooperation between "KAYO" and "Fincantieri" will have a dual function, it will not only focus on military relations but also on trade relations between the two countries ", said Vengu.
"Fincantieri" is an Italian shipbuilding company based in Trieste, Italy. But this deal was revealed by former military officer, Artur Meçollari. He revealed how the government broke off cooperation with the Dutch, while receiving a ship from Italy that will be out of service for 3-4 years.
" The Dutch government donated 12 million, out of 32.8 million euros, for the construction of 4 patrol ships in cooperation with "DAMEN Shipyards" in Pashaliman. So 1.5 ships are a gift from the Dutch Government. For 11 years, the Albanian Government has been dragging out cooperation with "DAMEN Shipyards" even though the 4 ships have been without maintenance for 11 years.
Today, the agreement with "Fincantieri" for the Pasalimani is being signed, after the Italian Government gave the Navy a 34-year-old ship that will be decommissioned in 3-5 years. And equipping this ship with the experience in force is called a "quality leap". Wait, there is still more to come for Pasalimani. The Government will speak from September, after winning the elections ", he writes.
Italian Defense Minister Guido Crosetto said that relations between the two countries are excellent, and appealed for closer cooperation between the nations.
" This moment is important for us, because it is concrete proof of Italy's friendship towards Albania and expresses our readiness and goodwill both in terms of the military and economic issues. The donation of the ship "Libra" is not simply a point of arrival, but a starting point of the excellent cooperation that exists between our countries as well as the cooperation between our armed forces. We live in difficult times and nations must become aware and we must cooperate more closely. From today, we will increase our level of cooperation ," said the Italian minister.
Meanwhile, Rama stated that the donation of the ship and the pact with "Fincantieri" is a strong proof of cooperation. According to him, this is more than the material aspect, because work is being done to create an important synergy and to create a new energy together.
