Former Minister of Finance, Arben Malaj, has commented on the 10% tariff imposed by US President Donald Trump on Albania.
He has expressed his concern about the impact of the new trade tariffs, which have included almost all of the United States' trading partners.
Malaj stressed that this decision could have serious consequences for the economies of the region and potentially for Albania as well.
"Trump's decision is worrying. If the economies around us are affected, such as Italy, Greece or Turkey, then there is a real risk that the consequences of these tariffs will also be reflected in our country through increased inflation," Malaj told "News 24".
According to him, the main concern lies in the use of tariffs not only for commercial purposes, but for geopolitical interests.
"Trump is not using tariffs for a classic trade war, but for geopolitical gains. This makes the situation more unpredictable and dangerous for smaller and more exposed economies like ours ," he said.
