Lawyer Arben Llangozi says that the Call Center fraud scheme discovered in the tower in the middle of Tirana shows the malfunctioning of the country's most important institutions.
The lawyer spoke about a corrupt network that occurs in the State Police. Llangozi stated that such activity, which has been going on for years, has connections with politicians and senior police leaders.
According to him, politicians have shares in these Call Centers and shared the belief that there is a lack of organization and functioning of all state institutions.
"These schemes have been flourishing in the capital for years, they have endless products of criminal activity, as they have not declared their taxes and enjoy staggering wealth. The State Police has them before its eyes, but does not want to ascertain them."
Community policing does not exist because we are dealing not only with a fraudulent scheme like the Call Center, but we are dealing with a corrupt network that occurs in the State Police.
Many cases have been reported by citizens, but the police do not deal with it and wait for a report to be filed. The police have in many cases closed their eyes and ears and the specific case is very close to the Police Directorate, the Supreme Court and the most important institutions of the country.
Here we have a criminal activity, where many state institutions are related to these schemes, such as the police, but also politicians have shares in these Call Centers. Such an activity that has been going on for years, is definitely related to politicians and senior police leaders. It is about 30 million euros. Have they been investigated, what is the turnover, how does it work? Here we have a malfunction from the police, the Money Laundering Directorate and the tax office. All employees used to go to work in the latest type of cars. I see a lack of organization and malfunction of all state institutions. If the State Police does not reflect, criminal liability must be held. If the criminal law does not function on state officials, we will have the same events. SPAK must investigate who exposed this operation, because the exposure of such an operation does not inspire public trust.
Even the landlord who has not signed a contract is responsible in collaboration. Because we are dealing with a contract that involves fraud and is a participant in this criminal offense. I believe that the National Bureau of Investigation will investigate. The investigation will continue and I am convinced that politicians will also be implicated. For the income that is in question, the source must be declared. The public must know what income our politicians who live a luxurious life have. Our politicians have hundreds of thousands of euros," Llangozi told MCN.
