Albania ranks among the countries with the highest level of readiness to fight among NATO members, according to a survey published by the American Foreign Policy Research Institute.
The data shows that 69 percent of Albanian citizens express their willingness to fight for their country in the event of conflict, placing Albania in second place in this ranking, immediately behind Turkey, which leads with 88 percent.
In the survey, citizens were asked the question: "If a war broke out, would you be willing to fight for your country?", an indicator used to measure the level of commitment and sense of national responsibility.
After Albania, the list of countries with the highest percentage of readiness to fight includes Sweden with 66 percent, Finland with 64 percent and Montenegro with 63 percent. Greece ranks at the same level as Montenegro, while the list continues with Norway (61 percent), Lithuania (52 percent), as well as Poland and Slovenia with 49 percent each.
According to the report, interest in this indicator has increased significantly in recent years, especially after the start of the war in Ukraine in 2022, which has brought security and defense issues back into focus at the global level.
The survey results place Albania ahead of several Nordic and European Union countries, reflecting a relatively high level of citizens' willingness to get involved in defending the country if necessary.
