Scene from the scene

After the murder and suicide in Kuman, Roskovec, the victim's relative recounts the tensions in the family, the recent clash and the 80-year-old's behavior over the years

The serious incident that occurred on March 24 in Kuman, Roskovec, where 80-year-old Shefit Rrapaj killed his wife Dashuri Rrapaj and then ended his life, has prompted reactions from family members, who have provided details about the relationships and conflicts in the family.

Ermal Azizaj, Dashuri's brother, stated that the 80-year-old had long exhibited problematic behavior and had constantly created tension in the family. According to him, his sister had tried for years to cover up situations and avoid conflicts.

He also described the moment he received the news of the incident: "The boss has always been aggressive and problematic. I came home from work and was eating some bread, when my phone rang on Messenger, I left it, I didn't open it, I said I'll get it again. But something was grinding in my throat and I got up and picked up the phone, look, it was my nephew. I picked it up, he said "they're both dead, he killed them!". At that moment I called my older brother and each other, to save him, we hoped we wouldn't find him alive, but no. The state does its job. He has been problematic. For 50 years, our sister has always been a cover for him. He had a heavy parental shadow. Even as a father, when the child comes, because we are family ourselves, you get tired, you become..."

According to him, one of the last conflicts had occurred about ten days before the incident and was related to the work on the land. He said that the argument had also involved the couple's son, who had returned from Greece, while the 80-year-old had filed a report for violence: "Ten days ago, let's say they came with the police, my sister and nephew are coming here with the police, they took my nephew from Greece and told me to go because Shefiti has reported them. Why, they had planted the land there, why did you plant the potatoes here but not there. I sent the chick to Tirana to school and then I went to my sister in Roskovec, I consoled her there, I put my hands on her neck and said, "What's wrong with you? Even with Shefiti. They said... I said, even with Shefiti, what's wrong with you, you don't like it here, don't plant them here, plant them further, calm down, these are useless conflicts"

Azizaj said that the 80-year-old's serious behavior had been ongoing for years and also mentioned a previous episode: "he was problematic. I lived in Greece for 25 years but what can I say, a violent man, he was. 20 years ago he committed suicide, March 2006. Who would have thought that he had a weapon, who would have thought of a weapon?"

Regarding the funeral ceremonies, he explained that his family will bury Dashuri next to her parents, while he does not want to be involved with her husband: "we have taken our deceased, our sister, to bury her where our mother and father are. I don't care about that at all, I left it verbally and in writing, take her wherever you want, bury her in the deepest ditch, let the dogs eat her, I don't care at all..."

The family member's account sheds light on the ongoing conflicts in the family and the developments that preceded the serious event in Roskovec.
