SPAK sent the file for trial, GJKKO will hold the preliminary hearing for Veliaj on September 29

Judge Etleva Deda has set September 29, at 12:00, to hold the preliminary hearing for Tirana Mayor Erion Veliaj and the other defendants.

Veliaj is accused of five criminal offenses, passive corruption in nine cases, money laundering, concealment of assets, abuse of office and bringing prohibited items into the cell.

Veliaj's wife, Ajola Xoxa, is also accused of the criminal offenses of passive corruption in nine cases, money laundering, concealment of assets and failure to declare income.

16 other people, businessmen and relatives of the Veliaj-Xoxa couple, have also been sent for trial. Among them is former Socialist MP Klotilda Bushka.

Meanwhile, the Mayor of Tirana, Erion Veliaj, has appealed to the High Court for the security measure after he opposes the Appeals Court's decision that left him in prison. The rapporteur judge for the case in question will be Albana Boksi.
