Albania opens today four more chapters of negotiations for membership in the European Union, at the 6th Intergovernmental Conference with the EU.
Cluster 4 includes key areas such as green transition, environmental protection, clean energy, sustainable transport interconnection, which are at the heart of the European Green Deal and the EU's strategic priorities.
In his speech from Brussels, Prime Minister Edi Rama stated that there are only 5 group chapters left to open.
Meanwhile, Enlargement Commissioner Marta Kos has stated that all group chapters are expected to be opened by the end of the year, as planned.
"Dear Edi, this is the wall of expansion. Albania has moved very quickly, when I came in December it was all red. Since we have just reached a chapter group, I will remove the red and put the yellow.
We will open everything by the end of the year as planned. I support your plan to close the negotiations in 2027 and to have you in the EU as soon as possible. Your commitment and that of the Albanian team that is doing well are impressive. Congratulations once again, it is an honor ," said Commissioner Kos.
