Criminalistics expert Ervin Karamuço has stated that every year in Albania 100,000 people go behind bars.

From the moment the police arrest you and the prosecutor takes the lead and takes you as a security measure, you stay in custody or you get out, all of this as a total number and those who are released cannot hold 100 thousand people in prisons.
In prisons we currently have 5740 as we speak. The first figure is for those who are detained, be it isolation rooms in the police and a short time in the custody of the Ministry of Justice, 100 thousand Albanians are affected per year. They come in and out. This figure is alarming ", said Karamuço.
