The snowfall that has started since yesterday blocked some areas of Kukës, Dibra, the Great Highlands of Shkodra as well as Korça.
The thickness reached up to 50 centimeters in the deep areas of Dibra, while in the city of Peshkopia it went over 20 centimeters.
As a result of the heavy snowfall, some road axes have become impassable.
It is known that after the cessation of snowfall around 23:30 last evening, the authorities intervened with snow removal tools and salted all the main road axes. Temperatures in Peshkopi have dropped several degrees below zero.
The people who were blocked at the Qafë Murriza by pass were helped by the police and left there. It is known that some of those who left their vehicles where they were blocked have gone to their relatives in those areas where they were left.
The Peshkopi-Maqellare-Bulqize-Tirana axis is passable, but winter tires must be used.
The Peshkopi-Koben-Vasie-Kukes axis is passable, but winter tires and chains should be used in case of difficulties.
The Peshkopi-Muhurr-Draj-Reç axis is difficult to cross with chains.
The problematic situation continues in Dibër, where some administrative units such as Lura, Selishta, Zall Reçi, Kalaja e Doda and Luznia remain blocked. Today it is expected that the roads of the villages will be interfered with. The heavy snow has broken some trees due to the weight. Several electric poles were also broken, leaving some administrative units without power. This crash was fixed by OSHEE within last evening.
Problems also appear in Bulqiza, Klos and Mat. The police appeal to car drivers to avoid unnecessary movements, to use winter tires and chains, and to be careful as there is frost on all road axes.
In the hours of yesterday evening, it started to snow in the southeast, especially in the areas near Pogradec and the tourist village of Dardha. In Qafë Thane, the snow has fallen with higher intensity, but without causing problems in the circulation of vehicles. The city of Korça was also engulfed by the snowfall.
As for the rainfall that has covered the rest of the territory, despite the large amount, the local authorities do not report problems with flooding, while due to strong winds, some cruises in Durrës and Vlora have been suspended.
