For years, many young Albanians have already fled to England and have been labeled as "London's bastards", as some of them have been involved in drug trafficking or in the activity of "bar houses", stigmatizing the rest of the immigrants as drug dealer and trafficker.
But now the roles are changing, it is the English who come not only for tourism and crazy parties in our country, but also to distribute drugs.
The first case that highlighted this phenomenon was recorded on June 4, where 2 English tourists aged 27 and 33 were arrested in Dhërmi, who were distributing cannabis, cocaine and ecstasy. The police declared their accomplice, also an English citizen, wanted. The customers were mainly foreigners who frequented the Albanian coast. Amounts of money suspected to have benefited from this criminal activity were also seized, specifically 3 million lek, 12 thousand euros and 2 thousand pounds.
Six days later, in another operation, the police arrested 2 more young Englishmen who were distributing hard drugs in Dhërmi. From their control, the police seized 37 doses of the narcotic substance GHB (Gamma-hydroxybutyrate), which is otherwise known as a sex drug. The arrest of four Londoners echoed in the English media.
On June 12, five other foreigners were arrested by the police on the same charge. Four young men aged between 27 and 40 from Spain, Brazil, Argentina and Italy were arrested as police found and seized 160 doses of the narcotic substance GHB (Gamma-hydroxybutyrate) and doses of other hard drugs. From the investigative actions, it is suspected that the five arrested had come to Dhërmi as tourists and in cooperation with each other, distributed narcotics in doses, in this coastal area, mainly to other tourists, in night clubs and in various activities of entertainment that takes place on the coast during the tourist season.
