While the Municipality of Durrës continues to promote the coast as an elite tourist destination, the reality on the ground shows a completely different picture. Piles of waste, overflowing or missing bins, beer bottles, cans and garbage bags thrown near buildings and public spaces are a panorama that accompanies residents and tourists every day.
The area where over 15 5, 6 and 7-story buildings have been built, inhabited by Albanians and foreigners, has long faced a lack of basic services that the Municipality of Durrës should provide.
In the same area are also well-known hotels such as FaFa, AS, Lyden and Diamma, which during the season welcome thousands of vacationers. According to residents, at the peak of the season the number of people who frequent the area exceeds 20 thousand people per day.
However, the images speak for themselves: waste accumulates near roads, in the spaces between buildings, and on sidewalks, creating not only visual pollution, but also a risk to public health and the image of tourism.
According to the law, the Municipality of Durrës has direct responsibility for urban waste management, water supply, cleaning of public spaces, road maintenance, and the provision of other basic services.
But, at least from what these images show, the "elite beach" promoted by Mayor Emiljana Sako appears to have been left to the mercy of trash, while residents and tourists pay taxes for services that, according to them, are lacking.

Hajde pisllëk hajde tek xixa . Pa kosha plehrash, pa asnjë punëtor pastrimi e mirëmbajtie. Minjtë ndër plehra, janë më të mëdhenj se një mace. Turp për bashkinë Durrës.
Ajo e ka menjen me i mor lek qytetarve nga parkimet se e ka pronen e vet dursin, te meret me qent qe kan mbush bulevardin… dursaket nuk di ta tolerojn me…
Punëtori I pastrami mbledh kanaçet nga kazanët e please për ti shitur dhe nuk shikon plerat e hedhura në rrugë atje e kalon orarin e punës
Ju eshte bo mendja turizmi, turizmi, dhe plehrat ne mes te vendit. Ktyre ju eshte fshire memorja fare, thua se Shqiperia ka rrojtur nga turizmi nder vite. Kur nuk kane ide per tjera projekte, persrritin refrenin "turizmi"
