Data from the Institute of Statistics show that in the first 6 months of the year, 767 accidents were recorded, mostly in June.
" It is the roads and their safety, the ability of the drivers and the responsibility of the structures that monitor the traffic. These 3 elements are not properly respected, which leads to the case of an accident" , Mamir Hodo, road safety expert, tells A2 CNN.
It is the behavior of the driver, mostly men, that has influenced the increase in the number of accidents but also the increase in injuries and deaths. 659 accidents occurred as a result of drivers that led to 935 injuries and deaths in total.
"Road education, preparation of drivers in driving schools, seriousness on the road, this should send us to the same situation as in Europe ", says Hodo.
Although in the month with the most accidents, the age group up to 24 years old was the main cause, in the first half of the year the age group of 25-34 year olds "bloodied" the roads of Albania. More accidents occurred on Friday in the morning hours, where the movements of citizens to rest on weekends are even higher.
