A coordinated operation between climbers, volunteers, RENEA forces and the Armed Forces made it possible to rescue 22-year-old Xhuljano Kaloti, who remained trapped in the waters of the Osum River during the search for a missing 42-year-old.
Sources from the field confirm that the young man is in stable health, is conscious and is receiving medical assistance.
Residents of the Skrapar area report that the incident occurred while canoeing. The strong current of the river capsized one of the rafts. The raft got stuck between rocks in the area called "Third Strait", near the entrance to a cave.
Authorities continue the search for 42-year-old Ilir Kurti. Preliminary suspicions indicate that the river current may have swept him away.
The Osumi Canyon stretches for about 12 kilometers and reaches depths of up to 90 meters. High flows significantly increase the risk. Interventions by people without training for rescue operations in these conditions pose a high risk to life.
