
"Queen Geraldine" Hospital has reacted regarding the death of the 9-day-old baby a few days ago. Her parents sued the heads of QSUT and the maternity hospital, while the hospital stated in a statement to the media that after birth it was found that the baby had cardiac problems. It is also said that the mother did not follow the progress of the pregnancy there.

Clarification of the team of the Obstetrics Service and the Neonatal Resuscitation Clinic at the "Queen Geraldine" SUOGJ
Based on the articles published by some media, about the loss of life of the baby (9 days old) with the initials BD, in QSUT, after a heart surgery, due to a congenital cardiac anomaly, the team of doctors at SUOGJ "Queen Geraldine ”, once again expressing the most sincere condolences to the family for the loss of their child's life, clarifies the public opinion, as follows:
The patient with the initials KD, gave birth to her baby on 13.08.23 near the "Queen Geraldine" maternity hospital, under the maximum care of the medical and nursing staff. We clarify that the mother did not follow the pregnancy at our maternity hospital. Immediately after birth, neonatologists suspected and diagnosed the baby with congenital cardiac anomalies, a diagnosis which was confirmed by cardiopediatric doctors of QSUT one day after birth. The protocol of referral and transfer of the baby to QSUT for further treatment was strictly followed, as the only National Center for the treatment of cardiac anomalies in Albania.
The team of doctors at the "Queen Geraldine" maternity hospital assures the citizens that it has been and is fully committed to guarantee medical service with maximum professionalism for every woman and baby born in this maternity hospital, which hosts over 6,000 births per year.
Neonatal resuscitation provides services to more than 2,000 children per year who are born in our hospital but also from other cities of Albania, as one of the reference centers for neonatal resuscitation in the country.
