
Albania has passed the peak of respiratory tract infections. The number of patients who went to hospitals and health centers in the last week of January, referring to the data of the Institute of Public Health, has decreased.
From over 17,000 cases, the number has dropped to around 16,000.
But, in relation to the same period of the past two years, according to public health specialists, the viruses are of higher intensity. Likewise, the sick who need a doctor's help.
More than 10,000 people are affected by upper respiratory infections, while over 5,000 are from lower ones.
The most affected are the little ones. Ages 1 to 4 are followed by infants and then school-age children.
In Gjirokastër and Gramsh, a greater spread of viruses is observed, but due to the higher number of the population, Tirana, Durrësi and Fieri also have the largest number of sick people.
Currently, according to the specialists of the Institute of Public Health, influenza type A and B, coronavirus and other viruses are circulating in the country.
