The leader of the Socialist Party parliamentary group, Taulant Balla, broke the electoral silence today after calling for a vote for socialist candidates in the local by-elections in 5 municipalities in the country.
The head of the CEC, Ilirja Celibashi, when asked at a media conference, stated that this is prohibited.
"It is forbidden to make electoral appeals, they can do so for mass participation. I hope that this reminder of this issue will be heard," said Celibashi, while explaining that the voting process in all polling centers continues normally.
"Since morning, the citizens of Vlora, Berat, Cërrik, Mati and Tepelena have been voting for new mayors to continue the path towards #Albania2030 with Edi Rama and the Socialist Party of Albania. We Albanian socialists are keeping our pledge in the May elections that this mandate will be the mandate of the annual increase in pensions, salaries and the mandate of membership in the European Union. Thus, our pensioners, in addition to receiving this December, the year-end bonus, starting in January, will have an increase already extended to every month of the four years that we have ahead of us above the annual indexation, of course. Therefore, I invite you to come out en masse and vote for our candidates," Balla writes in his post.
