Renowned journalist, Klodiana Lala, has commented on the shocking event that occurred this Monday at the Court of Appeals in Tirana, where Judge Astrit Kalaja was shot dead inside the courtroom.
Invited to the show "Log." on News24, Lala described this act as another blow to national security, comparing it to other serious criminal events that have occurred within security institutions.
" This is the third case that seriously violates national security, after the murder of Arben Lleshi in prison and the robbery in Rinas. Murder in the courtroom is a violation of state security," Lala declared.
The journalist also emphasized that the justice reform, which merged the courts of appeal into districts and concentrated them in Tirana, has placed a heavy burden on the Court of Appeal of General Jurisdiction, which is now facing cases brought from all over Albania.
" In the Court of Appeals, cases from all over the country collide. People come who are well-known, who have been involved in trials for years ," she said.
According to Lala, the checks at the entrance to the court are inadequate and not standardized.
"The scanner sometimes works. The security guard sometimes is not trained for a full physical check ," she said.
