A working group of the Tirana Water and Sewerage Authority faced threats while performing their duties in the Fresku area, where they were verifying a report of an illegal connection to the water network from a garden.
According to sources, the group consisting of a plumber, a biller, an engineer and a sales manager went to the site after a complaint about illegal interference in the network. The premises where the kindergarten is located, it turns out, were rented by the son-in-law of the former head of the Dajti Municipality, Kujtim Qefalia.
After the inspection, it was discovered that there was illegal interference in the network. But the UKT group was faced with threats. Initially, the employees were contacted by phone by citizen Dëfrim Buzhiqi, who according to them is Qefalia's personal driver, and were threatened to interrupt the verifications. Later, according to statements, threatening calls were also made by Kujtim Qefalia himself.
The situation became even more tense when the driver appeared at the scene, insulting and threatening the employees. The employees then filed a complaint with the police.
Sources indicate that during the verification, an illegal connection to the water supply network was found, while the case is expected to be investigated by the police for the reported threats and possible legal violations.
